Strathearn Fleece and Fibre is the home of raw fleece, batts, rovings and spun yarn, all born and bred on our farm at Muthill or sourced locally. The finest quality fleeces are selected, mostly first clip, which gives the softest and finest fibres for spinning, felting and knitting.
Our raw fleeces can be purchased whole, weighing approximately 1-3kg depending on the breed of sheep. They can also be purchased from 100g upwards which allows you to buy several breeds in smaller amounts; these can be spun separately or blended to give a unique spun yarn.
The batts are scoured, hand-dyed and carded on
the farm, ready to be spun or felted. The range of colours and blends are ever changing, so please check on our products page to view the latest array of vibrant and muted colours.
We also have natural rovings, including Blue Texel, Jacob, Zwartbles, Bluefaced Leicester (cream and grey/brown) and Texel which are a joy to spin and make wonderful pegloom rugs. The up-to-date selection can be seen on our products page.
Our yarn is spun at a traditional mill in the UK, then hand dyed on our farm. Using single breeds & blends, we have created a fantastic range of natural and hand-dyed yarns from lace-weight to super chunky. Our yummy yarns can be seen on our products page and purchased in our online shop.
We are agents for Ashford products, so come and try our spinning wheels and other
accessories, including peglooms and drop spindles.
We thank you all for your interest in our enterprise and look forward to meeting some of you when we are out-and-about at various events and at home. See events and contact us for further information and to arrange a visit.
